working on final edits :)
for now, please enjoy post-mortem string theory
more news as it comes!
In which our intrepid heroes almost get shot at.
Again, as with anything else, this doc is open to comments! And I really appreciate them. :) Also, if you read and enjoy, please reblog!
Act 1 of Faraldo City Private Investigators is now online and in the editing stage. Come watch me edit, offer input, or just read along! :)
and it’s not post-mortem string theory (which i should be editing but fhdjaskfhdsjka i really hate editing i cannot stress that enough)
at the present moment i am just a little under 4/5 done with my next story, Faraldo City Investigators Vol.1, Act 1. why so many designations? you ask. well let me tell you:
this story is a new format for me: something i’ve never tried before. recently, i finished The Green Mile by Stephen King, and not only was it a great story, but it really struck me how much i enjoyed reading a story where each “chapter” was very distinctive, almost able to stand on its own as a small story within the scope of a larger story. With FCI i decided i wanted to try something similar.
basically, FCI Vol.1, Act 1 is going to be a story roughly 25k words (about 80 pages, give or take) in length, that, ideally will be able to stand on its own as a short story, as well as exist within the context of the larger story. the plan is for the entirety of Vol. 1, then, to be composed of three acts of similar length, and together those 3 acts will tell not only their own short stories, but a larger story, which ultimately will tie together in the third act. it’s a very very new format for me, and it’s been quite challenging! that said, i am actually really enjoying it.
now, here’s where you, the readers, come in if you’d like to: when i finish this story and edit it to the point where i am pleased enough with plot, story, spelling and coherency, i will open the googledocs file up to you. much like PMST, i’d ask that you guys read through it and be my editors! tell me what doesn’t make sense, what you think is awkward, things you’re confused about. point out spelling and grammar errors too, if you so choose. not only will i really appreciate it, it will make the story that much stronger, and it will help me move things along to the publication phase (and yes, there’s going to be one!).
also, and i swear i will not be irritating about this: i ask, with all my writing, that if you like it, reblog it (with credit, of course). talk about it with other people that like it! word of mouth is the only publicity i can afford right now, and i’d really appreciate it if you guys helped me out. :)
so anyway that is just a little update post. mostly pointless, but with some information on What is Up. :) hope to make another, meatier, writing-filled post soon!
But I am profoundly unhappy with it, so there will probably be a great deal of editing between now and when I post it.
I will probably be cleaning up chapter 2 of Post Mortem String Theory in the meantime, so look for that.
Also if anyone has a better idea for a title for that thing please let me know hahaha. :)
so here is the link to the first chapter of a (possibly?) YA sci-fi/fantasy book I finished a few months ago. it may look familiar to some of you ;)
SO HERE IS THE DEAL WITH THIS
i would really appreciate feedback on my writing, as i am planning on self-publishing any and all works you see here. ergo, i have made it so that you can leave comments at certain parts of the document.
i would really, really like it if anyone interested enough proofread and commented on each chapter as i post them, to try to improve the story before i publish. it’s an idea i sort of stole from copperbadge and his Extribulum Press: the target audience reads the work in its unpublished, second-draft state, helps with editing, and then gets to see the book again in its final, polished, published form.
so far i have only posted chapter 1, but i plan to post the entire book. i also plan to work on my other story, Faraldo City Investigators, in a similar fashion, so this book is sort of serving as a test run. please let me know if there is anything you think i could improve!
so that’s enough out of me: i will be opening up the ask box, so if anyone has any questions, please ask! and also, please feel free to share the writing on this blog if you feel like someone you know might enjoy it. :) the more the merrier.
eh it’s a little early so sue me
also have i ever mentioned i love my characters?
